Solar energy is a clean, inexpensive, renewable power source gaining popularity as more and more people look for alternative energy. Northeastern REMC can help you connect your solor power equipment with NREMC's electric distribution system. Our staff is available to work with you to ensure equipment is installed in a proper and safe manner and in accordance with all applicable codes, standards, regulations, laws, and insurance requirements.
No space for solar panels?
If you'd like to use solar energy but don’t have a suitable place for solar panels or don’t have the money to invest in a system of their own, you can enroll in Northeastern REMC's Community Solar Program. This programs gives members the ability to purchase the solar energy output from a large solar structure located on our property in Columbia City. This helps members avoid the cost of installation and maintenance or any of the other obstacles in a construction project. Learn more by clicking below.
Solar power is energy generated from the sun in the form of electric or thermal energy. Photovoltaic solar panels can convert the sun's rays into usable electricity.
Most homeowners will install solar panels on rooftops of homes or in open land and ground-mounted depending on the size of a property.
Commercial solar energy users are generally installed at a greater scale than residential solar in a variety of different ways.

Yes. You are required to notify Northeastern REMC when you plan to construct, install and operate any system that will be connected to our power distribution system.
Keep in mind that weather conditions, the amount of daylight hours and other factors will contribute to how much energy your panels produce. Most NREMC members, who have solar panels, are still purchasing some energy from NREMC each month to power their home. Any NREMC electricity you consume is priced at our standard rate category.
